Psychological all-star British cop thriller BLOOD follows two cop brothers who commit the ultimate crime and soon see their world collapse under the weight of their former Police Chief father’s shadow. It’s director Nick Murphy’s big-screen adaptation of the acclaimed BBC miniseries CONVICTION by Bill Gallagher and features of top cast led by Paul Bettany, who stars alongside the excellent Mark Strong, Stephen Graham, Brian Cox.

Sam Mendes also produces the acclaimed film slated for UK cinemas from 31st May. Check out this first trailer.

When police discover a young girl brutally murdered, brothers Joe Fairburns (Paul Bettany) and Chrissie Fairburns join their supervisor Robert (Mark Strong) to investigate main suspect Jason Buliegh, a local sex offender and social outcast.

Forced to release Jason from police custody, the Fairburns take matters into their own hands in an attempt to coerce a confession. All the while, Joe and Chrissie’s father Lenny Fairburns (Brian Cox), the former chief of police, remains in the car, a quiet spectator to the fatal tragedy that begins to tear his sons apart. Unspoken secrets and unvoiced suspicions drive the ominous suspense as Joe spirals into an obsessive confrontation between crimes of the present and crimes of the past.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
