Dark New TV Spot For Jason Statham In ‘Hummingbird’

The man who might already be a British cult-legend, Jason Statham, continues to work, work, work and this time taking on HUMMINGBIRD. This looks like it has a lot of potential, and a rather great-looking neon effect, echoing the likes of DRIVE and TAXI DRIVER.

The film is written and directed by Steven Knight in his first major feature, Knight also wrote EASTERN PROMISES so this should be brutal, in a good way. In HUMMINGBIRD, Statham plays Joey Jones, a homeless man on the run from a military court martial. But, you knew there’d be one, he’s a damaged ex-special forces soldier navigating London’s criminal underworld and then he seizes an opportunity to assume another man’s identity and transforms into an avenging angel. I say: Bring It On.

The only thing that worries me for it’s distribution is the name change that’s taken place in different countries, as it’s also known as REDEMPTION in the USA and there’s rumours of different titles across Europe. Anyway, let’s judge the film on what we see in the end. Check out this great TV Spot, I’ll be looking out for this for sure:

HUMMINGBIRD is released in the UK on 28th June. It co-stars Vicky McClure, Benedict Wong, Siobhan Hewlett, Christian Brassington and Ian Pirie.
