First Trailer for ‘As Cool As I Am’ Lands

The first trailer for AS COOL AS I AM from director Max Mayer debuted today.  The film stars Claire Danes and James Marsden as a married couple struggling to raise their teenage daughter for whom they sacrificed life as they knew it when they were little more than teenagers themselves.

Sarah Bolger stars as the daughter in question alongside Thomas Mann as her potential love interest. AS COOL AS I AM, from IFC Films, has June 21st release date lined up in the States, with no UK release date announced as yet.

Bolger, best known for TV roles in ONCE UPON A TIME and THE TUDORS, looks a good fit as spirited protagonist Lucy who must deal with her own growing up as her parents do the same.  Based on the novel by Pete Fromm AS COOL AS I AM is a coming of age story with a gritty teen voice which Bolger looks to take in her stride. Danes, forever Angela Chase to some viewers, takes on the reverse role here as the parent who is still figuring things out.  Her interaction with Marsden is not heavily showcased in these clips but her on screen sparring with Bolger looks to be in keeping with the novel’s comical side.

AS COOL AS I AM also features a strong supporting cast including Jeremy Sisto and Peter Fonda.
