Another THN poster round-up gives us a look at four very different offerings.
First up is the latest banner from visionary director Guillermo del Toro’s massive monsters against massive machines blockbuster PACIFIC RIM. Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba lead the cast as the survivors of a towering creature invasion from the depths of the ocean that sees mankind fight back from the brink of destruction. The film arrives 12th July.
We’ve a variant poster from the Brad Pitt-led zombie epic that is receiving some strong reviews following a secret test screening in L.A. yesterday. The film is based on the acclaimed novel by Max Brooks as his UN representative attempts to locate the origin and find a cure to the escalating onslaught of the undead. Marc Forster directs the film hitting cinemas 21st June.
Next up is the new one-sheet from the threequel to the Adam Green-created cult horror HATCHET franchise. The hulking Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder) is resurrected once more for the third and final outing (aren’t they all) as the returning Dannielle Harris must face off against the deformed madman yet again. A limited release for the fun slasher comes 14th June.
Finally, and the most horrific of all is the new poster for sure-to-be-annoying kiddie sequel THE SMURFS 2. Neil Patrick Harris returns to lead the live-action/animated hybrid directed by Raja Gosnell. The squeeky-voiced blue cretins are this time joined by a couple of similar creatures known as the Naughties, created by Hank Azaria’s evil wizard. The little ones are sure to go mental for this from 31st July.
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
