Following the massive success of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN franchise, Disney put a lot of faith and money in directer Gore Verbinski’s vision for a big-budget reboot of western icon, THE LONE RANGER. This despite the western genre rarely making a dent at the box-office in many, many years. Still, I’m a huge fan of the films set in the Wild West and I do have a soft spot for Verbinski’s first Pirates effort. In fact, the footage we’ve seen so far suggests THE LONE RANGER could be a blast as the director is reunited with Captain Jack himself, Johnny Depp.
Depp is paired with Armie Hammer as Native American sidekick Tonto and the heroic title character respectively. The duo lead an impressive supporting cast that includes Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Wilson, William Fichtner, James Badge Dale and THN fave Barry Pepper.
We’ve five new international posters from the action-adventure slated for US cinemas from the US on the 3rd July and the UK from the 9th August.
