AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS is currently the darling of Cannes, earning hit reviews left right and centre. In keeping with the film’s striking cinematography (the film won the prize for U.S Dramatic Cinematography at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival) a new teaser poster promises a gorgeous backdrop to David Lowery’s crime romance. In fact; the poster isn’t really a poster at all; it’s a painting by the Lowery’s brother Benjamin. Way to keep it in the family guys.
The movie sees Rooney Mara star alongside Casey Affleck and Ben Foster and tells the story of an outlaw (Affleck) on the run desperately trying to reunite with his similarly fugitive wife (Mara). Foster stars at the local sheriff caught up in the couple’s mayhem. Describing the inspiration behind his latest creation Lowery explains:
“I love the myth of the American outlaw, and I wanted to play around with it and take it apart a little bit. There’s so much of America wrapped up in that ideology.”
Mara, who broke out in just a few scenes in David Finchers’ THE SOCIAL NETWORK has been making some great character choices in her young career and landed the sought-after starring role of Lisbeth Salander in Fincher’s follow up THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.
Due for US release on August 16th, this is one movie we are dying to see. Pray for a UK release date alongside us!
