In possibly one of the most surreal breaking news articles of the day, it seems that a bunch of stars from the world of WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), are lining up to lend their voices to a feature length animated version of THE FLINTSTONES. The film will probably go straight-to-DVD in 2015 and will be a collaboration between WWE Studios and Warner Brothers, who own the property.
John Cena, Vince McMahon and CM Punk will become prehistoric versions of themselves (John Cenastone, Vince McMagma and CM Punkrock) will appear in the film when The Flintstones and Rubbles visit a WWE match. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will handle worldwide distribution on Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and digital download in early 2015 (US).
No word on a UK release, but I should imagine that it will hit at a similar time. We have no further information on any other vocal talent for the planned film, but we’ll be sure to keep you up to date.
