Glenn Close Joins The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

Glenn CloseDirector James Gunn is certainly compiling a cast of fantastic but unexpected choices for his Marvel Phase 2 effort, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Earlier this week, John C. Reilly was offered a role as Rhomman Dey, a role that has been changed from its comic counterpart into that of a human liaison in the vein of Agent Coulson from THE AVENGERS. Now we have news that Glenn Close will join the cast as the head of the Nova Corps, which is an intergalactic variation on S.H.I.E.L.D., thus making Close the Nick Fury of space. This is quite the casting as nobody would mess with close, especially those that have seen her spectacular work in TV series DAMAGES and THE SHIELD. Meanwhile, Marvel are also looking at Alan Rickman, Ken Watanabe, and Hugh Laurie for a potential role as a peer agent for Reilly. This could very well be Marvel’s most interesting film to date.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is released 1st August 2014. It is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Daldana, Michael Rooker, Lee Pace, Ophelia Lovibond and Dave Bautista.
