‘Entourage’s Doug Ellin To Write & Direct ‘Bad Santa 2’

When it comes to the season of good cheer we all love a great fun family film, right? Something to bring us in the mood for spending sh*t loads of cash on gifts for our (supposed) loved ones, only to see us receiving another pair of bas**rd slippers or David fu**king Beckham fragrances that I wouldn’t punish the tramp living in an Asda doorway with, never mind pamper my own scrotum.

For some it’s A WONDERFUL LIFE. Others, A MIRACLE ON 34th STREET. And for this sourpuss, much like its lead character – Billy Bob Thornton’s foul-mouthed favourite, BAD SANTA.

I love Terry Zwigoff’s 2003 hit comedy, as it’s simply filled with loveable, yet at the same time, loathsome characters. While it’s been talked about for quite sometime, most recently with HOT TUB TIME MACHINE’s Steve Pink attached, BAD SANTA 2 looks to finally be making its way to the big-screen. Production is set for the end of the year with Thornton back as alcoholic safe-cracker Willie T. Stokes. ENTOURAGE creator Doug Ellin has officially signed on to re-write the script, while he’s also in negotiations to direct.

Would you be happy at seeing a Bad Santa sequel?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
