THE FIGHTER star Melissa Leo is currently in talks to join THE EQUALIZER.
Denzel Washington is already signed to the project, which is set to be directed by Antoine Fuqua. Based on a 1980s CBS TV serial, Washington will feature as McCall, an ex-secret agent who places a mysterious ad in his local paper: ‘Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer‘. If Melissa agrees to the deal, she’ll take on the role of McCall’s old handler who provides him with fresh information when he gets into a rather sticky situation.
This will be the second time Leo and Fuqua have worked together (he recently directed her in OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN). Leo won an Oscar for her stellar performance in David O. Russell’s THE FIGHTER, proving she’s more than capable for tough, challenging roles.
