Bloody New Stills From Action Sequel ‘The Raid 2’

They can’t be many people who were not impressed with Gareth Evan unrelenting martial-arts masterpiece, THE RAID (aka THE RAID: REDEMPTION). The similar and simple premise, of an Indonesian SWAT team’s attempt at making their way up a criminal-infested tower block in an effort to capture a ruthless mobster, may have led to the commercial failure of the surprisingly decent DREDD (despite the comic-book effort being shot first). However, the stylised violence and balletic, brutal gore assured Evans pic would go onto bone-cruching cult status.

We’ve a few blood-soaked stills from Evans’ forthcoming follow up which will go by the the sub-title BERANDAL in some territories. THE RAID 2 is still shooting in Jakarta, Indonesia and is once again led by Iko Uwais in the official plot synopsis below.

Picking up right where the first film ends, ‘The Raid 2? follows Rama (Uwais) as he goes undercover and infiltrates the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force.

Tio Pakusadewo, Putra Arifin Scheunamann, Julie Estelle, Alex Abbad, Roy Marten, Matsuda Ryuhei, Endo Kenichi, Kitamura Kazukiall co-star in the gory action thriller still awaiting a release schedule.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
