Patrick Stewart Finishes Filming & Talks ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’

Bryan Singer is still shooting his return to the X-Men franchise, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, but one actor is done and dusted with his role in the film and that is Patrick Stewart. Stewart returns to the role of Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X, despite being seemingly killed off in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND. Stewart explained his reappearance at Comicpalooza:

It’s been 6 or 7 years since X-Men 3, where you will recall that Charles Xavier was vaporized by whats-her-name, Jean Grey. And you’re asking yourselves, ‘If you were vaporized, how can you be in the next X-Men movie?’ Anybody got any ideas how that came about? (An audience member yells out “Time Travel”) Yeah, that’s exactly it. I guess. There will be an explanation, but it was a little puzzling for me because I thought my X-Men days were over. So, it’s something to look forward to.

Anyone familiar with the comic storyline of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, will already have put two and two together, but for those concerned with the gigantic cast, which mixes characters from the original trilogy and X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, Stewart makes it sound as though his Professor X role will not be a huge one. Stewart confirmed that Hugh Jackman will be on set for the remainder of the shoot. Poor old Professor X! Comatose in X-MEN, kidnapped in X2, killed in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, it’s almost as if he just can’t last an entire film.

Stewart also stated that he thought this would be the best of the X-MEN films, and possibly the blockbuster of 2014. This guy’s obviously never heard of GODZILLA (I’m bias). The video below shows Stewart discussing the complex production surrounding such a huge cast.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is set for release 18th July 2014. It will star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Booboo Stewart, Omar Sy, Evan Peters, and Ian McKellen.

His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.

Xavier hasn’t been seemingly killed off in X3, or maybe you’ve skipped the final scene in which Moira bends over a medicalized bed asking “Charles?”
