Well, creator Sylvester Stallone attempted to nab Oscar-winning director Mel Gibson to helm the third action-packed outing for his Expendables crew, but after failing in that respect, Sly appears to have not left it there. Word coming out of Hollywood is that Gibson has signed for the other side of the camera as the protagonist role in the action sequel, which also recently confirmed would feature newcomers to the franchise, Nicolas Cage, Wesley Snipes, Jackie Chan and Milla Jovovich.
The controversial superstar, best know for roles in the LETHAL WEAPON and MAD MAX series’, has had his problems of late but still attempting a resurgence following acclaimed roles in THE BEAVER and EDGE OF DARKNESS. Coincidentally, he’ll next be seen on villain duties in Robert Rodriguez’ crazy action sequel, MACHETE KILLS.
We await confirmation but would you like to see Gibson in THE EXPENDABLES 3, which is being directed by RED HILL’s Patrick Hughes and again featuring the core cast of Stallone, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren. Not forgetting Schwarzenegger and Willis. The film has a release slated for 15th August 2014.
