Jerry Bruckheimer has revealed that even after 30 years, he still wants the sequel to TOP GUN. The 1986 film, which starred Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer, is still on Hollywood’s biggest producers mind. Speaking at a press conference, he said:
“For 30 years we’ve been trying to make a sequel and we’re not going to stop. We still want to do it with Tom Cruise and Paramount are still interested in making it.”
He also mentioned that he is not the only one enthusiastic about the sequel, Tom Cruise is also itching to do it too:
“What Tom tells me is that no matter where he goes in the world, people refer to him as Maverick. It’s something he is excited about so as long as he keeps his enthusiasm hopefully we’ll get it made.”
Bruckheimer did admit that the death of Tony Scott, the original director of TOP GUN, had put a pause on the project, but they are still pushing on with the project. But of course, Bruckheimer’s attention has been focused on the remake of THE LONE RANGER, which stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.
Will you be excited to see Maverick take to the sky again?
