A new poster has landed for PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS, the upcoming sequel to 2010’s THE LIGHTNING THIEF.
Following the rather chaotic and undeniably generic posters that kick-started the film’s marketing campaign, this new design seems more in keeping with the “adult covers” that try to sell teen fiction to a slightly more mature audience.
Relatively simple, almost monochrome and really quite stylish, it features Logan Lerman’s Percy in profile while a green font identifies him as the son of Poseidon. Presumably there will be similar makeovers for the supporting cast, which includes returning players Brandon T Jackson and Alexandra Daddario, as well as franchise newcomer Nathan Fillion as Hermes.
Of all the boy heroes looking to follow in Harry Potter’s footsteps, Percy Jackson is undoubtedly the character who has come closest. SEA OF MONSTERS will see author Rick Riordan’s titular demigod set out from Camp Half-Blood in search of the Golden Fleece. Fingers crossed director Thor Freudenthal — here taking over from Chris Columbus — can keep this one out of troubled waters.
PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS is scheduled for release on the 7th of August, 2013.
