With the James Cameron-created classic killer robot franchise looking at a move to Paramount Pictures, plans are certainly in motion for the next futuristic instalment. Patrick Lussier, who co-wrote and directed Nic Cage bonkers actioner DRIVE ANGRY 3D, and Laeta Kalogridis (SHUTTER ISLAND) were recently confirmed as the writers to sci-fi sequel. Now we have a quote from the hulking actor made a superstar by the violent groundbreaking 1984 effort, who confirms TERMINATOR 5 isn’t as far away as you may think.

I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in ‘Terminator 5’ and to star as the Terminator. We start shooting in January and I’m also going to do ‘King Conan’. To play that role and also to do another ‘Twins’ movie. I feel very proud of that. I feel very happy and I’m looking forward to doing those films.

Arnie’s first leading film following his leaving office as the Governor Of California, THE LAST STAND, pretty much sank at the international box-office. Proving his popularity has waned after only a brief few cameos during his political career. Also, the news that he’d having it away with the housekeeper and secretly fathering a child, leading to a divorce with longtime partner Maria Shriver, not helping his cause. Seriously damaging any possible Presidential hopes.

There is not a director onboard as of yet but don’t be surprised to see Lussier confirmed in an effort to keep costs down in what is a risky project.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
