Patricia Clarkson Boards ‘The Maze Runner’

Patricia Clarkson

Oscar-nominated actress Patricia Clarkson is reportedly joining the cast of THE MAZE RUNNER.

Starring Dylan O’Brien (TEEN WOLF), Kaya Scodelario (SKINS), Ki Hong Lee (NEW GIRL), Will Poulter (WILD BILL), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (GAME OF THRONES) and newbies Al Ameen and Blake Cooper, the film will be a page-to-screen adaptation of the young adult novel written by James Dasher. O’Brien is set to star as Thomas, a teenager who wakes up in a place called The Glade, not knowing how he got there. After befriending some boys his age, the group set up their own society. Clarkson will be taking on the role of Chancellor Ava Paige, a lady picking through candidates to find the perfect warrior.

This all sounds a little to like THE HUNGER GAMES to me. However, I’ve loved Clarkson in the roles I’ve seen her in (SHUTTER ISLAND, LARS AND THE REAL GIRL, EASY A), so having her on board is definitely an improvement.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.

How does it sound like the Hunger Games at all? Kids aren’t killing eachother, or are being used for entertainment.

They’re using the teens as lab mice, basically, and testing their strength and intelligence in an effort to discover who among them possesses the greatest resistance to a disease that has decimated the global population so they can use them to find a cure. And that’s just a small part of it.

Sorry, not sorry for the spoiler. You shouldn’t have said it was like the Hunger Games.
