Disney’s adaptation of Broadway play INTO THE WOODS is continuing to add to it’s already staggeringly strong cast list with the announcement that Anna Kendrick has joined as Cinderella and Brit Daniel Huttlestone as Jack (he who gets a beanstalk).
Kendrick previously publicly read for the part and she joins a cast list that includes Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Jake Gyllenhaal, Chris Pine and James Corden. Daniel Huttlestone won us over as Gavrouche in last years French revolutionary blockbuster LES MISÉRABLES; a role which he has also played in the West End. Huttlestone made his stage debut aged 9 in ‘Oliver’ but it was his role in Tom Hooper’s Oscar winning musical that really got him noticed. Not just sticking to signing roles Huttlestone has also been confirmed to star alongside Liv Tyler and Jonathan Rhys Meyers in a coming-of-age drama LONDON TOWN due out in 2014.
Stephen Sondheim’s dark and twisted fairy tale sees characters from Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk intertwine in a story of a childless baker (Corden) and his wife (Blunt) who set out on a journey seeking to break the curse that has left them unable to reproduce. Pine and Gyllenhaal will be pretentious Princes, Streep the witch who cursed the couple and Depp is taking on the role of the wolf who prays on Little Red Riding Hood, one of the few roles yet to be announced alongside Rapunzel.
Filming is due to begin later this year with a Christmas Day 2015 release date already confirmed in the USA!
