Elizabeth Banks has signed on to play Brian Wilson’s wife in Bill Pohlad’s LOVE & MERCY; a biopic of The Beach Boys written by Oscar nominated Oren Moverman. Wilson was the mastermind behind the sound of the Beach Boys and, after signing a record deal in 1962 wrote more than twenty five Top 40 hits for the band.

“The life of reclusive musician Brian Wilson from his early success with the ’60s surfing band The Beach Boys to his highly-publicized nervous breakdown, to his recent reemergence as an acclaimed singer-songwriter-performer”.
So far we know that John Cusack is set to play Brian Wilson when he is a bit older and rising star Paul Dano, who has impressed in LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, LOOPER and RUBY SPARKS, will be playing a younger version of the musician. Paul Giamatti is also in the cast list to play Dr Eugene Landy, the therapist who treated Wilson throughout his illness and garnered controversy for his numerous prescriptions of psychotic drugs.
Banks will play former model Melinda Ledbetter, who met Wilson in the 1980s and the two married in 1995, with filming due to begin later this year in L.A
