This November sees the release of sequel, THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, as we see just how Jennifer Lawrence’s bow-carrying heroine Katniss Everdeen is coping following her survival in the fight-the-death tournament. Suzanne Collins concluding novel, Mockingjay, will next be split into two by Lionsgate Films (much like they milked the woeful final TWILIGHT story) and casting is already underway.

Director Francis Lawrence, who will guide the remainder of the franchise following Gary Ross exit with the first film, has his eyes on Julianne Moore for the role of President Alma Coin. A mean and manipulative politician, who plays a pivotal role in the finale as Katniss’ actions throughout the series becomes a symbol of the apocalyptic uprising and the brewing undercurrent of rebellion against The Capitol authorities.

Do you think Moore has the odds in her favour for the part? Do let us know if she’s a good candidate.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
