Rhys Ifans Set To Join ‘Elementary’

03_rhys_ifansWe have to admit, while we had our reservations about CBS adaptation of our favourite fictional detective, the first season of ELEMENTARY was a bit of a good ‘un wasn’t it? And now season two looks set to get even more fantastic, as it was announced that Rhys Ifans will be joining the show in season two!

Ifans will be joining the show as Sherlock Holmes (played by Jonny Lee Miller) brother Mycroft, and is set appear in the season two opener. As we reported before, the first episode ELEMENTARY’s season two will be set in London as Sherlock is forced to revisit an old case. With a little twist on the stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, in the ELEMENTARY universe Mycroft will be living at 221B Baker Street, and lets Joan and Sherlock stay with him as they work the case, but Sherlock and Mycroft will face a lot more as they try and get over their troubled family past.

Creator Robert Doherty spoke of his delight of having Ifans attached to the role:

“I could not be more excited to have Rhys coming aboard, I’ve always been a tremendous fan and feel very honored to have him in the fold. Equally excited are Jonny and Lucy, both of whom have worked with Rhys in feature films. I think this is going to be a lot of fun for all of us.”

ELEMENTARY is set to return in the US September 26th
