‘Jacob’s Ladder’ Next For The Remake Machine

An announcement from LD Entertainment has confirmed that the studio will remake the classic 1990 Adrian Lyne-directed psychological horror, JACOB’S LADDER. The original and powerful cult thriller starred Tim Robbins as a damaged Vietnam War veteran who begins to suffer from increasingly disturbing hallucinations. His attempts to discover the truth behind them takes him on a spiralling journey into madness and one that boasted a strong political statement hidden in the intriguing, twisted conclusion.

The company will fully finance the film and has tasked MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN’s Jeff Buhler to pen the script. They’ve also promised it won’t be a direct copy of Lyne’s film but a contemporary take on those events with new characters and situations, while attempting to continue and explain the controversial lingering ‘themes’ included. Can they pull it off? We’ll keep you posted as the project develops.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
