Brolin Breaks Out Of The Box For ‘Oldboy’ Poster

The first poster (if you don’t include the teaser title-only artwork) for Spike Lee’s remake of Park Chan Wook’s brutal and brilliant Korean thriller has arrived. It’s a very subtle yet effective design as lead Josh Brolin’s advertising exec looks determined to seek out the reason for mysterious 20 year imprisonment. While the seeds are planted in the background for the dark and tormented journey to come. It’s going to be near impossible to top the original revenger but we hold out hope for something very special. The first trailer is expected next week!

OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
