First Names To Board Jake Hoffman Directorial Debut ‘Asthma’

Son to screen legend Dustin Hoffman (who made his directorial debut last year with musical drama QUARTET) – Jake Hoffman – will follow in his fathers footsteps with his own first feature expected to shoot later this year. Krysten Ritter and rising Australian Benedict Samuel will headline ASTHMA, which will focus on the tragic consequences of the live fast, die young mentality in New York’s growing indie rock scene.

Veteran actress Christine Lahti, who first came to major attention in the superb 1982 television movie THE EXECUTIONER’S SONG starring Tommy Lee Jones as the death row bound criminal Gary Gilmore, will also feature. Albert Hammond Jr. of rock group The Strokes will play himself so expected a number of possible real-life musicians to round out the cast.
