Sean Astin (LORD OF THE RINGS) has reportedly joined the cast of Guillermo Del Toro’s TV series The Strain.
Astin joins Corey Stoll (THE BOURNE LEGACY) and Mia Maestro (THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN) in the science fiction thriller, focusing on a deadly vampiric virus that has taken hold of New York City. Stoll features as Dr. Ephraim ‘Eph’ Goodweather while Maestro will take on the role of Dr. Nora Martinez, Eph’s colleague and lover. Sean will join the cast as Jim Kent, a friend of the pair. Production hasn’t started just yet but many are already predicting the show will be granted a full season.
I for one am getting a little tired of the whole vampire/werewolf/supernatural genre, but The Strain sounds brilliant! With Del Toro at the helm we all know this is going to be class.
