With hits like OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, IRON MAN 3, MONSTERS UNIVERSITY and erm, THE LONE RANGER, Disney have become the first Hollywood studio to pass the $1billion mark at the box-office in 2013. It is apparently the eighth successive year that the Mouse House has managed to hit the magic number, and there’s still a ton of releases on their slate to make that number even bigger.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD, Pixar’s FROZEN and SAVING MR BANKS will all be released in the coming months, so expect that figure to rise and rise.

IRON MAN 3 grossed $406M in the domestic territories, while OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL POCKETED $235M, and MONSTERS UNIVERSITY $225M; and its only been out over there for three weeks. The Pixar prequel opens in the UK and Ireland from today (read our review here).
