Elijah Wood’s latest project COOTIES has picked up some cast members with Rainn Wilson, Jack McBrayer, Alison Pill and Jorge Garcia all reported to be involved in the film. Production started today in Los Angeles on the horror/comedy set in an American elementary school where a virus outbreak turns the children into savages and the teachers must try and save the day.
Wood will lead the band of teacher heroes and Wilson, McBrayer, Pill and Garcia are expected to join him in his efforts. Rainn Wilson is best known for his role in the US series of The Office and fellow comedic actor Jack McBrayer will be known by fans as optimistic Kenneth in 30 Rock. Pill and Garcia have also both starred in TV shows; Pill in Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom and Garcia in Lost.
With a script written by Ian Brennan and Leigh Whannell, the former having co-created Glee and the latter having written the screenplays to the SAW empire and INSIDIOUS, the movie should have a great combination of elements keeping both the comedy and horror fans happy. Debut directors Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion are on board to helm the project which has a release date of October 2014.
