The cast list for Zombie comedy LIFE AFTER BETH is hotting up as more stars were announced for the project. Anna Kendrick, Molly Shannon and Cheryl Hines have all joined the movie, director Jeff Baena’s debut after writing the screenplay to 2004’s indie hit I HEART HUCKABEES.
The film stars Dane Dehaan as Zach, a young man who is willing to overlook the fact that his girlfriend, the titular Beth, has just come back from the dead as he tries to continue their relationship. Dehaan has had roles in indie pics CHRONICLE, THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES and KILL YOUR DARLINGS but it is his role in the upcoming Spider-man sequel THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 as Harry Osbourn that will see him making his mainstream mark. Playing his girlfriend is another indie darling Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED).
John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon are set to play Beth’s parents and Paul Reiser (BEHIND THE CANDELABRA) will be Zach’s father. No word yet on who Anna Kendrick or Cheryl Hines will be playing but it seems likely the former will be playing a friend of the couple and we’re hoping Hines, who shone in TV shows Curb Your Enthusiasm and Suburgatory, will be announced as Zach’s mother
Filming has already started in Los Angeles and the movie is expecting to hit our screens in 2014.
