Only minutes ago THN vacated the vicinity of the San Diego’s iconic Comic Con to a day that began during the seriously crazy hour of 4am! During this long opening day, we’ve seen the exclusive first footage from forthcoming Young Adult blockbuster DIVERGENT, based the acclaimed best-selling series of novels by Veronica Roth, as well as a new exciting look at sci-fi warfare thriller, ENDER’S GAME, again, based on the popular 1985 book by Orson Scott Card.
Of course, there has been more with a fascinating panel, ‘The Visionaries’, giving us a bit of brilliant banter between filmmakers Edgar Wright, Marc Webb and Alfonso Cuarón as they discussed their respective careers and projects, GRAVITY, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 and THE WORLD’S END. However, the biggest draw of the day came from Showtime’s hugely popular serial-killer series DEXTER. Myself being a huge fan of Michael C. Hall’s conflicted loveable psychopath Dexter Morgan. It was frankly a dream come true and cast and crew members, past and present, joined a jam-packed Hall H for a rather emotional farewell for the show currently airing its final season in the UK and the US.
The likes of producers Scott Buck, Sara Colleton, Manny Cotto and Clyde Phillips appeared alongside regular cast Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, David Zayas, Desmond Harrington, Aimee Garcia, Julie Benz, Lauren Vélez, Erik King and Yvonne Strahovski. There was also a very special video message from the ever-awesome Trinity Killer himself, John Lithgow.
Many of the cast appeared visibly upset when discussing their roles and what the show meant not only to them, but also the fans. Most notably Carpenter, Vélez and even Hall. They all seemed genuine in their heartfelt thanks to loyal fans. The stunning Strahovski may even have let slip a significant spoiler that we’ll not share for obvious reasons.
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
