There’s a new bloodsucker franchise on the way to capitalise on the recent TWILIGHT franchise, as well as television hit series such as THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, TRUE BLOOD and SUPERNATURAL. I can’t help but think the genre now diluted and squarely aimed at the teen crowd. VAMPIRE ACADEMY: BLOOD SISTERS, coming from The Weinstein Company, has released a teaser poster, as well as confirming the launch of the official site.
The film will be based on the first of Richelle Mead’s bestselling Young Adult book series and will star Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Danila Kozlovsky, Gabriel Byrne, Sarah Hyland, Joely Richardson, Cameron Monaghan, Sami Gayle, Claire Foy and Ashley Charles. MEAN GIRLS’ Mark Waters will direct with the current release scheduled for 14th February 2014 with a plot that follows “Dhampir” (half human/half vampire) Rose Hathaway.
Could be great, probably shit!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
