Following the announcement that the film had been added to the Toronto International Film Festival line up, a new image from the upcoming Jimi Hendrix biopic ALL IS BY MY SIDE has been released online. The film stars Andre Benjamin, better known as Andre 3000 from Outkast, as the famed guitarist. The film is written and directed by John Ridley, who penned such films as U TURN and RED TAILS. It marks a return to directing for Ridley, who’s only other feature credit was 1997’s COLD AROUND THE HEART.
The synopsis on the TFF:
Jimmy James (André Benjamin), an unknown backup guitarist, left New York City for London, England in 1966. A year later he returned — as Jimi Hendrix. ALL IS BY MY SIDE brings authenticity and poignancy to the story of the man behind the legend, and of the people who loved and inspired him. The cast includes Imogen Poots, Hayley Atwell, Ruth Negga, Adrian Lester, and Ashley Charles as Keith Richards.
There’s no release date set just yet, but we’re sure everybody will be snapping it up once it makes its debut!
