To celebrate the upcoming home entertainment release of the brutal and brilliant film STARRED UP, we’ve teamed up with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to offer 10 lucky winners the chance to win a pair of tickets to an exclusive screening of the film along with a Q&A with Screenwriter Jonathan Asser, hosted by Empire’s very own Damon Wise on Monday 4th August evening in Central London.
STARRED UP which is out now on Digital HD and on Blu-ray/DVD on 4th August is the story of Eric (Jack O’Connell: This is England, Harry Brown, Eden Lake) – a teenager whose violent behaviour in a young persons’ borstal results in being ‘starred up’ to an adult prison where his father, Neville (Ben Mendelsohn: The Place Beyond the Pines, The Dark Knight Rises), is also an inmate. Caged amongst the older, more violent prisoners, Eric, disaffected and disengaged, turns to violence as his form of expression. Voluntary counsellor Oliver (Rupert Friend: The Young Victoria, Homeland) slowly connects with Eric using group therapy sessions, however the prison staff – in particular the sinister Governor Hayes (Sam Spruell: The Hurt Locker, Defiance) – have little interest in the rehabilitation, or welfare, of the prisoners.
STARRED UP is out now on Digital HD and out on Blu-ray/DVD on 4th August from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. We absolutely loved it, check out our review!
