Cooper, Adams & Bale Star In First Official Stills From David O. Russell’s ‘American Hustle’

We’ve previously brought you the crazy-styled 1970s set stills from David O. Russell’s fact-based Abscam comic drama, AMERICAN HUSTLE (formally AMERICAN BULLSHIT), but today we have the first official stills. Russell follows up his brilliant Oscar-winning dramedy SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK with the story of an undercover sting operation which was set up in the 1980s by a con artist working for the FBI, who discovered corruption in the corridors of political power.

Christian Bale plays the con artist Irving Rosenfeld, who along with his accomplice lover Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) rooted out the bad apples in the big case. Joining Russell’s THE FIGHTER duo are his SLP trio Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro. The film also co-stars Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K., Michael Pena, Jack Huston and gets a limited US release on December 13th before going wide on Christmas Day. It will hit the UK Boxing Day.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

Wow! Amy Adams has never looked hotter! It seems like she’s trying to distance herself from her kinda goody-two-shoes image, lately. Good for her.
