‘Robocop’ Remake’s Merchandise Gives Us Closer Look At Murphy’s Three Upgrades!

Last week, THN brought you our perspective of the first look at impressive footage from Jose Padhila’s forthcoming remake of 1987 sci-fi classic, ROBOCOP, from San Diego Comic Con. It was certainly unique with a refreshing spin on Paul Verhoeven’s ultra-violent take on the doomed Detroit cop, while we also learned some fascinating key plot points that could really set Padhila’s film apart from the countless, tiresome remakes so often seen in cinemas these days.

That first trailer is said to be attached to prints of Neill Blomkamp’s ELYSIUM (released 9th August in the US), while the first official poster and stills are expected around the second week of August. However, we’ve managed to uncover these images of the films merchandise range which give us a look at the three overhauls Alex Murphy will receive over the course of the film. What this also suggests is that this ROBOCOP is sadly going to aimed at the kids with Verhoeven’s visceral bloodshed sure to be toned down.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
