Latest ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Red-Band Clip & TV Spot

We’re only two weeks away from the release of bonkers, wannabe superhero sequel KICK-ASS 2. Following footage from yesterday, we’ve a brand new extended red-band clip from the film reuniting masked vigilantes  Dave Lizewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Mindy Macready (Chloe Grace Moretz), better known as the green hooded title character and his sweary sidekick.

This clip sees Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s Red Mist, now reborn as ruthless villain The Mother Fucker, taking a beating while MMA superstar Chuck Liddell watches on. We’ve also included the latest television spot.

After Kick-Ass’ insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes, our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist — reborn as The Mother Fucker — only the blade-wielding Hit Girl can prevent their annihilation. When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy. Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire-leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes. Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother Fucker, assembles his!

Jeff Wadlow takes over Matthew Vaughn as writer/director of the film, which is again based on the comic book created by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. Clark Duke, Lyndsy Fonseca, Yancy Butler, Donald Faison, John Leguizamo, Lindy Booth, Olga Kurkulina and Jim Carrey co-star. It lands in US cinemas from 16th August and the UK two days earlier on the 14th August.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
