Martin Campbell To Helm Paramount Pictures’ ‘Alpha’

Edge of Darkness

Martin Campbell may well have scored a dud with superhero shitfest GREEN LANTERN, but he’s still a director well respected for his awesome action spectacles and brilliant brooding drama. Paramount Pictures are now in active negotiations to have Campbell helm their Navy SEAL/combat dog tale ALPHA.

The project has recently been rewritten by MINORTY REPORT’s Scott Frank following earlier drafts by David Benioff, Carl Ellsworth and Graham Roland. It’s a project that has obviously been in development for quite some time, with the majority of the action set in South America, where a Navy SEAL must work with military canines to rescue their captured handler.

We’ll keep you posted as the remainder of the cast and crew come together.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
