With both Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Cruise declining the lead villain role opposite Oscar-winner Colin Firth’s ‘Uncle Jack’ in Matthew Vaughn’s big-screen adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ comic book, THE SECRET SERVICE, we’ve been left wondering who could fill those shoes. Well, it’s another DJANGO UNCHAINED star who’s now confirmed and that man is Samuel L. Jackson.

THE SECRET SERVICE will co-star newcomer Taron Egerton, who beat off competition from Jack O’Connell, John Boyega and Christian Cooke, to land the young lead role of hoodlum-turned-spy protégé Gary to Firth’s Uncle Jack. Michael Caine also now officially onboard, while Emma Watson and Bella Heathcote are also being eyed for roles. Shooting on THE SECRET SERVICE is set to begin next month and we’ll bring you more details as they come on those female roles. Vaughn’s frequent screenwriter Jane Goldman has again penned the screenplay.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
