First Trailer Hits For Diablo Cody’s ‘Paradise’

Last week saw the arrival of the first set of stills and US poster from Oscar-winner Diablo Cody’s directorial debut PARADISE. The film stars FOOTLOOSE and ROCK OF AGES stunner Julianne Hough as a conservative Christian girl who loses her faith and decides to travel to Las Vegas to try and forget the horror of surviving a terrifying plane crash. Joining Hough are funnymen Russell Brand and Nick Offerman and Academy Award-winners Holly Hunter and Octavia Spencer.

After a nearly fatal accident, 21-year-old Lamb Mannerheim (Hough) is beginning to realise that the world is much bigger than her small, God-fearing Montana town. Armed with a big, fat insurance payout and a checklist of untried sins, there’s only one place for her first taste of temptation…Las Vegas! And, with the help of a few new friends (Brand and Spencer), Lamb embarks on an oddball odyssey of lost souls, broken faith and cheap cocktails…a true journey of the heart.

The first trailer has arrived and fans of Oscar-winning Cody’s screenplay work are sure to want to check it out to see how she handles herself in the directing of her first feature film.

PARADISE has a scheduled US release cinema release date of 18th October 2013, although it will be available VOD on DirecTV starting August 8th. No word as-of-yet on a UK date.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
