Who says the buddy comedy doesn’t appeal to audiences anymore, 2 GUNS has proven that this isn’t the case by shooting to the top of the US Box Office. Admittedly the total of an estimated $27.4 million isn’t the upturn studios would have liked but it was enough to see it top the list ahead of THE WOLVERINE, THE SMURFS 2 and the now over $100 million grossing THE CONJURING. Sadly Adam Sandler led GROWN UPS 2, continued to take money in sixth position ahead of the tremendously successful DESPICABLE ME 2 which has taken over $326 million in the US alone.
Elsewhere in the top 10 RED 2 stumbled to a total take of $45 million at 8, just behind TURBO, but ahead of PACIFIC RIM, THE HEAT and WAY, WAY BACK. Rounding of the Top 10 is FRUITVALE STATION from the Weinstein Company.
