Sam Rockwell & Rosemarie DeWitt To Lead ‘Poltergeist’ Reboot

Poltergeist

The brilliant Sam Rockwell is in final negotiations to lead the Sam Raimi-produced reboot of classic spookfest POLTERGEIST. He’ll join Rosemarie DeWitt in the film being directed by MONSTER HOUSE director Gil Kenan from a script by David Lindsay-Abaire.

We recently unearthed plot details that the story will follow the newly named Eric Bowen. A man who is recently laid of and forced to relocate to a new town to find work along with his wife, Amy, and daughter, Madison. However, young Madison is mysteriously abducted, forcing him to realise the only important thing in life is his family. His wife also discovers that she has the gift of being able to communicate with the dead and teams with a paranormal television personality, Carrigan Burke and his parapsychologist ex-wife, to bring Madison back from the ‘other side’.

Much like the Raimi’s recent EVIL DEAD directed by Fede Alvarez, that this will be a reboot of sorts but will exist in the same world and possibly even in the same house as one rumoured scene in the script will reveal a connection to the previous events and tormented Freeling family.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
