Felicity Jones has signed on to join the cast of HBO’s Girls it was revealed today by director Jesse Peretz. The actress, currently filming THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, will join Hannah, Marnie and Jessa in New York as they struggle with life in the big apple. It has not yet been revealed what character Jones will be playing but she’ll be joining previously announced cast newcomer Richard E. Grant in the hit show.
Girls is the creation of actress-writer-director Lena Dunham who has been heralded as the next big thing in comedy since the show debuted last year to praise of it’s realistic portrayal of 20-something women living in New York today. It’s been nominated for a whole host of awards and won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA so landing a role on the show will definitely get Jones noticed by US audiences.
Jones’ career so far has mainly focused on TV and indie movies. She had the lead role in CHALET GIRL and LIKE CRAZY and is currently starring in BREATHE IN alongside Guy Pearce. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is due to hit our screens in 2014 and also in the pipine is the Stephen Hawking biopic THEORY OF EVERYTHING in which she will play the wife of the famous physicist alongside Eddie Redmayne as Hawking.
Girls will return to HBO for season 3 in 2014.
