It’s that time of the month for magazine exclusives for upcoming issues and following todays batch of new film stills from a number of exciting projects, we’ve another collection. These include new looks at Spike Lee’s OLDBOY remake; James Wan’s spooky sequel INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2; Robert Rodriguez’s exploitation follow-up MACHETE KILLS and the return of Marvel’s intergalactic demigod THOR in Alan Taylor’s THE DARK WORLD.
OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.
OLDBOY stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Michael Imperioli, James Ransone, Samuel L. Jackson, and is released 25th October and the UK 6th December.
The famed horror team of director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell reunite with the original cast of Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Barbara Hershey and Ty Simpkins in INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2, a terrifying sequel to the acclaimed horror film, which follows the haunted Lambert family as they seek to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.
Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Ty Simpkins, Barbara Hershey, Danielle Bisutti, Michael James Grise and Lindsay Seim star in the horror sequel slated for 13th September.
In MACHETE KILLS, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
MACHETE KILLS opens on 4th October in the US, but there is no set release date as yet for the UK. It also stars co-starring Jessica Alba, Cuba Gooding Jr., Lady Gaga, Sofia Vergara, Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Antonio Banderas, Demian Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Edward James Olmos.
Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
THOR: THE DARK WORLD stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Stellen Skarsgaard, Jamie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins. It’s expected in cinemas 8th November.
