Edgerton To Butt Heads With Bale In Ridley Scott’s ‘Exodus’

His gripping thriller THE COUNSELOR is yet to hit cinemas but director Ridley Scott is already plotting his follow-up project – biblical epic EXODUS. The story of Moses and his struggle to deliver the children of Israel from the Egyptian bondage, has a screenplay by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, which has also been given a overhaul by Oscar-winner Steven Zaillian. Christian Bale was recently rumoured for the role of the servant of God and we’re now hearing that he’s now confirmed for the lead of the bearded prophet who famously belted out the Ten Commandments and parted the Red Sea on his little trip.

More news has filtered through and brilliant Aussie actor Joel Edgerton (THE THING, WARRIOR) is in final talks to portray the Egyptian ruler Ramses. If a deal is reached, he’ll join Bale on the film set to shoot next month in locations in Morroco, Spain and the UK. Scott will also produce alongside Zaillian and Peter Chernin for 20th Century Fox and is set for release on the 12th December 2014.

Expect a future double blu-ray box-set with Darren Aronofsky’s NOAH starring Scott regular Russell Crowe, also due next year.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
