SHOTGUN STORIES , TAKE SHELTER, and MUD director, Jeff Nichols, has cast a female lead opposite Michael Shannon and Joel Edgerton in the upcoming sci-fi film, MIDNIGHT SPECIAL. Kirsten Dunst has joined the cast in an unspecified role, but I’m hoping for something villainous. After churning out three well reviewed films, and certainly three of the best American films of the last 10 years, Nichols is being given a lot more room (and money) to explore by Warner Bros. It will focus on a father who goes on the run with his son after it is discovered the son has special powers.
I absolutely adore Kirsten Dunst as an actress, while Jeff Nichols is certainly one of the best directors working today. I’m sure MIDNIGHT SPECIAL will be able to combine Nichols’ tone and sensibilities with a much more accessible genre.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
