Cate Blanchett is in talks to come on board the HBO films adaptation of Marisa Acocella Marchetto’s memoir Cancer Vixen: A True Story as a star and executive producer. Marchetto is a cartoonist for magazines The New Yorker and Glamour and was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. Her memoirs Cancer Vixen: A True Story were published in 2006 and detail her treatment and road to recovery.
Julie Delpy, currently starring in BEFORE MIDNIGHT with Ethan Hawke (which she also penned), will be writing the adaptation. Delpy also wrote the screenplay for the second of the romantic trilogy BEFORE SUNSET and has held the lead role in all three movies.
Blanchett, who has been nominated for five Oscars including one win for her role in THE AVIATOR, was last on our screens in THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY and is currently earning more awards buzz for her portrayal of a delusional socialite facing a life crisis in Woody Allen’s BLUE JASMINE.
