Late last week we received the first casting rumours regarding the main villain of Lex Luthor in Warner Bros. MAN OF STEEL sequel set to also include the Caped Crusader. Brilliant British actor Mark Strong, soon to be seen on the small screen on the US remake of acclaimed crime drama LOW WINTER SUN, is said to be favourite after hinting he may have already been approached. However, also in the running in BREAKING BAD’s brooding Bryan Cranston who is now deservedly looked at a an outstanding talent following Vince Gilligan’s groundbreaking series. He’s certainly the fans choice despite not actually being bald.

In a recent interview, the actor best known for the role of Walter White, the cancer-striken high-school science teacher-turned-meth cooking kingpin, was asked if he’d be interested in going head-to-head with Kal-El as the bald billionaire. He offered the following playful reply:

Give me a call. I like Lex Luthor. I think he’s misunderstood. He’s a loveable, sweet man.

MAN OF STEEL 2 or BATMAN Vs SUPERMAN (we still not sure of the title) will begin filming early next year in Toronto for a release in summer 2015 release. Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are expected to return in the superhero epic again directed by Zack Snyder from a script by David S. Goyer.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
