‘Fantastic Four’ & ‘X-Men’ Set For Team-Up?!

As much as we’ve love to see Marvel characters crossover, legal wrangling means I’m more likely to bed Scarlett Johansson myself than see her ass-kicking Black Widow appear opposite the X-MEN. Sadly, it’s never going to happen until those money matters are sorted. However, with 20th Century Fox’s X-MEN and FANTASTIC FOUR, the other controlling company outside of Marvel Studios and Sony (Spiderman), we can at least keep our fingers crossed for their superheroes to unite.

When asked about that possibility, Fox’s comic-book creative consultant and writer Mark Millar claims it’s not just possible, but likely:

Without question I think you have to see some of these guys showing up in each other’s movies. I think the most exciting thing in superhero movies, until The Avengers came along, was when Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man. Even though it was a guy with an eye patch it was really cool – and I expect we will see more of that.

James Mangold’s recent THE WOLVERINE marked Fox’s first (Marvel-like) post-credit sequence, preparing the arrival of Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Could we see Singer’s time-travelling sequel set up the events of Josh Trank’s forthcoming FANTASTIC FOUR reboot, due March 2015?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
