Great Alternative Quad Posters Explored For McAvoy’s ‘Filth’

It’s been a good month or so since that first mini-epic of brilliant disgust and the first trailer and posters for FILTH. Now, we’ve got two alternatives to give you that will probably be used around the country, as riding a pig while wearing a Police Uniform may not escape ever censor going. Ah, that’s an artistic disappointment.

However, to take their place we’ve now got a whiskey bottle and a rolled-up £20 being ridden by James McAvoy for the big-screen adaption by Jon S. Baird’s for Irvine Welsh’s FILTH, he’s the chap that wrote TRAINSPOTTING and this is surely set to be another million miles of debauchery and such. Can’t wait. Check out the trailer by clicking here and just scroll down for those posters:

FILTH also co-stars Jamie Bell, Eddie Marsan, Jim Broadbent and the lovely Imogen Poots. The film hits Scottish cinemas on September 27th and UK cinemas October 4th .

How would the censors be more OK with a cop riding a giant liquor bottle or a rolled bill? If they are, it’d make them even more stupid than what their job already suggests.

I mean on display in prominent areas outside cinemas/in the street.

    Obviously. ;-p

Hmmm, not sure about that. Unless the cop “rides” the pig in a XXX manner, it’s just a funny picture that some cops would find somewhat insulting. On the other hand, him riding a bottle or a rolled bill has significantly more biting undertones that suggest respectively 1) the rampant alcoholism that ravages so many livers in the profession and 2) dirty cops and/or drugs abuse. Sounds much more offensive to me.

I don’t think a small comment was intended to be quite as serious as you’re taking it to be honest.

    Nay bother.

And we’re talking Police here, not the ‘cops’! :p

I reckon you Brits say coppers, not cops, but ain’t cops and police (the capital P is for the band) one and the same?

Just trying to understand why you think the pig poster is more subject to censorship than its alternatives. I hate to remain puzzled by something. I don’t know, maybe it’s a british cultural thing that I, as a french man, fail to see.

I don’t think it would be a massive problem ‘per se’. It’s more about the connotations.

But the term Police and Cops here are very same, just the latter being an Americanism. We don’t tend to use coppers these days and if people hate the police, then they would (of course’ just be the ‘pigs’.

I don’t hate them, it wasn’t a comment designed to be that responsive to be honest but on a marketing side, it’s easier to display the other posters without people who have no bigger view on life complaining. i.e. Fox News or Daily Mail readers.

    Hope that makes sense! :p

Yeah. In a nutshell, not really less offensive except for the idiots. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
