Idris Elba To Star In ‘Beasts Of No Nation’

idris-elba-prometheus-imageUzodinma Iweala’s best-selling novel BEASTS OF NO NATION is set to star Idris Elba (who will also be credited as a producer) and will be directed by Cary Fukunaga. The film will tell the story of a young boy who sees his West African country engulfed by a civil war. He soon finds himself amid the fighting, along with a young mute boy. Elba will play Commander. The film will be produced by Red Crown Productions with SIN NOMBRE and JANE EYRE director, Fukunaga, taking the helm, which is something he is looking forward to:

This project has been seven years in the making, so to say I’m excited to start shooting this — and with Idris Elba as lead — would be me trying to play it cool. Red Crown has real moxie standing behind this story.

The book is obviously a very powerful story which features many events that will be very striking on screen.
