Two New Names Join ‘Kitchen Sink’

Oswalt and Theron bond over 'star wars juice' and stalking

Two years ago, we thought Jonah Hill was going to make his directorial debut with KITCHEN SINK. However, it is now Robbie Pickering who will be directing the film, set in the town of Dilford, where vampires are at the top of the social order, with zombies at the bottom, and us mere mortals stuck in the middle. Then suddenly, aliens invade, and a bunch of teenaged vampires, zombies and humans have to save the day. Slightly more complex than TWILIGHT right?

So, this film basically has the kitchen sink (hence the title). The latest stars to join the cast are comedians Patton Oswalt and Bob Odenkirk, and it’s set to be a good line up with other actors including: Ian Roberts, Nicholas Braun, Mackenzie Davis, Joan Cusack, Keegan-Michael Key, Ed Westwick, Vanessa Hudgens, Denis Leary and newcomer Josh Fadem.

Executive Matt Tolmach left Sony in 2011 and picked up the script, remarking:

‘I love high school movies, and sparked to the authenticity of these characters. It’s more in the spirit of ‘The Breakfast Club’ than anything, but you get an idea of the title in an early scene where two kids are running from zombies. Those zombies suddenly are attacked by vampires. Just when they are all facing off, there’s a bright light overhead. You realize the aliens have landed and these groups have to band together, suppress the urge to kill each other, and it becomes thematically the enemy of my enemy is my friend. That makes it different than your usual zombie, vampire, or alien movie.’

Will this be a successful vampire-zombie film, or are you sick of the high school-supernatural movies? Let us know!
